Spring Cleaning

2 min read
I've been away from dA for quite a while, due to other things going on in my life, and time I've been spending on other hobbies.  Upon finally returning again after this long absence, I find myself a bit embarrassed at my page.. too many smarmy, low-quality items that I have posted over time and that I am not very proud of.  So I would like to embark on a "spring cleaning" of sorts (it is after all spring here now, even if is still cold and rainy every day), removing a lot of the junkier stuff and leaving only the things I can feel proud to display.  Of course, there is an equal, or maybe greater likelihood that I will lose interest or become preoccupied with other things again, and thus never really get around to it, or only partially complete it... like so many other things in my life.  (Darn things like work keep getting in the way!)  I did also return again to using DAZ Studio, after a long absence, and so at the very least I will be posting some new work that I have created.  I feel confident that I can at least accomplish that much!

Having returned to DAZ Studio after a long absence, I recently created by newest beer fairy, for one of my newly favorite beers, Bells Smitten Golden Rye Ale, which hails from Michigan.  I may have even been drinking the beer while I composed the image... but not right now, as I sadly cannot find the beer in the shops anymore.  It is only seasonally available, and the seasons are changing (or so the calendar suggests... though it's still preety friggin' cold here!  Even had snow on the first day of spring...)  Anyway, inevitably, the newest beer fairy has also led to the creation of a new series of "Beer Fairy Pinups."  Pinups are, of course, the most fun thing to create in DAZ, and the images created seem to be the only thing that really draw people to my page (and not that many people, either :-( ).  If you're offended by revealing pictures of fairies and things like boobies, please avoid my gallery or it may corrupt you.

I had been planning to post pictures from a recent trip to Japan and Korea on the site, but I still haven't gotten around to organizing them, and have other things vying for use of my free time, and so I've put that off for a bit.  The trouble with photos, for me, is that I take so many, that it becomes difficult to go through them later and pick out some of the best.  I also have so many hobbies on which I want to spend time, but then there's this pesky thing (my job) that selfishly takes up such a huge amount of it.  Anyway, I did find some time to start using DAZ Studio again recently, as well as revisiting the old CRPG, Deathlord.  These two interests are combined in a series of portaits I decided to create of my party's characters.  The first two I've created are Hellboy and Kai.  Hopefully, there will be four two come.  Some snow days would help out with that...  :-)

The Flow

1 min read
"The Flow" was a solo exhibition of artwork by Mieko Anekawa shown at Le Salon d' Art in New York City from October 1 - October 29, 2014.  The opening reception took place on October 2, from 7-10 PM, and featured a collaborative performance with dancers Nana Miki and Yuko Hashimoto, who performed live dance while bodypainted by Mieko in a style reminiscent of the series of paintings being shown.  I created a few compositions in honor of the collaboration, using photographs I took myself at the opening reception.  The paintings featured in the compositions are the work of Mieko Anekawa.  I am friends with Mieko, and am posting these images with the permission of all three of the artists who either appear or whose work appears within them.
